Suzy’s cute childhood photo draws interest

miss A’s Suzy’s elementary graduation photo has been a hot topic recently, as her picture was revealed through various online entertainment sites.
In the picture, Suzy is sporting a shoulder-length shaggy hairstyle and is wearing a mustang jacket over her red shirt and tie – showing her innate fashion sense at a young age.  Her perfect skin and soft features are also similar to her current look, causing netizens to fawn over her.

Super Junior awarded with ‘Best Selling Album’ at the ‘2010 Gaon Chart Awards’

Super Junior was honored with the distinction of having 2010’s “Best Selling Album”, as determined by the ‘2010 Gaon Chart Awards‘ in an awards ceremony on February 9th.
The boys released their fourth full album, “Bonamana“, last year and it managed to sell a total of 200,193 album units to come in first in terms of physical album sales.
The group’s leader, Lee Teuk, expressed on stage after receiving the award, “We’re very happy to receive such a big award at a fair and authoritative awards ceremony. If America has the Billboard Charts and Japan has the Oricon Charts, Korea has the Gaon Charts. Every year when we go on promotions, we personally experience how it feels to be the boom of the Hallyu Wave not only in Asia, but all around the world. We will work harder in our activities.”

TVXQ’s Yunho told Changmin to quit singing?

During a recent recording of KBS 2TV’s variety show “Happy Together 3″, TVXQ’s Changmin revealed a story about his first impression of the group’s leader, Yunho. Changmin said, “Whenever I saw Yunho hyung in the office building I always greeted him politely, but I thought he was arrogant for greeting me half-heartedly.”
He continued, “During our trainee days, Yunho suddenly approached me and shocked me when he said, ‘If you’re just going to practice only for a little while and then leave, just quit altogether!’”, causing the whole set to burst into laughter.
To this, Yunho explained, “The team I trained with changed around four times because people kept quitting, so I couldn’t help but say that to Changmin.”

f(x)’s Sulli admits she was disappointed in TVXQ’s Yunho’s greeting

During this week’s recording of KBS2’s “Happy Together Season 3″, f(x)’s Sulli confessed about a time when she was disappointed in TVXQ’s Yunho. When MC Yoo Jae Suk asked Sulli if there was anyone out of the guests who were awkward to be around, she answered Yunho, and said, “Yunho always greets the other f(x) members kindly by saying things like, ‘Our cute Luna, hello! Charming Krystal, hello!’, but to me he just says, ‘Sulli, hi’, which makes me a little disappointed.”

Sulli makes a confession about her first love

On February 10th, f(x)’s Sulli talked about her first love on KBS 2TV’s ‘Happy Together 3‘. During the recording, she confessed that she had a crush on her bodyguard.
Sulli stated, “The moment I got on an elevator after a concert, fans started to crowd me – I didn’t know what to do.” She continued, “Then, the bodyguard appeared making a shield with his hands and protecting me. My heart started fluttering.”
To this, Krystal added, “After that, she only looks for that bodyguard” – embarrassing Sulli.

How did Super Junior take over China?

In China, if you ask someone to name just one of Korea’s numerous idol groups, they usually pick Super Junior. How did Super Junior, who performs in all of Asia as if it were just one big stage and sells out all their concert tickets, manage to break into the important Chinese market?
Recently, a Chinese media outlet analyzed Super Junior’s charms and attempted to reveal how the idol group got so popular in a relatively short amount of time. Their song, “Sorry Sorry” was especially popular, often picked as one of China’s favorite K-pop songs.
The results found that the easy-to-follow lyrics and the unique choreography captured Asia’s attention; In Taiwan, the song captured 1st place on one music chart for over 30 weeks. This was said to be an unusual occurrence and during that time, only “Sorry Sorry” could be heard in Taiwanese cities.
Although there have been several changes in the members of Super Junior over the past 5 years, they’re still regarded as Asia’s top boy band. In a surprisingly short time, they became the symbol of the Hallyu Wave. Their “rubbing hands” choreography was followed by Asians all over the continent, with pirated contents popping up on the internet, and fans following their dances and uploading videos onto the web. The simple yet addicting melody and dance became the reason for the song’s overwhelming popularity.
Super Junior’s leader, Leeteuk commented, “I think people like the special choreography as well, rather than liking the song alone. This is why so many people in Asia love our song“.
When Super Junior members travel to China, thousands of their fan girls greet their arrival, waiving their trademark blue light sticks. The Chinese media was surprised by the massive fan power, and explained, “Super Junior’s popularity not only comes from their good looks, but from the talent that comes from being trainees for several years“.

Super Junior is among the only idol groups that can sing live while performing difficult choreography. China is also paying attention to the unit groups of Super Junior. K.R.Y, composed of Yesung, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun is known for their spectacular vocals. Super Junior M, composed of Siwon, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, Donghae, and Henry, is known for their superb member configuration.
Super Junior M, especially, has succeeded in entering the Chinese market for using the ‘Localization Strategy’. With the members singing in Chinese, they have succeeded in gaining many Chinese fans. Siwon elaborated, “Super Junior M purposely has a Chinese member to target the Chinese market. We also can speak Chinese pretty well so we understand the locals“.
With the various aspects of the idol group, they’ve broken the notorious K-pop boy band rule, “That groups all disband 5 years after debuting“. Chinese media commented, “The Chinese audience is always looking for ‘fresh’ artists. Since Super Junior has a lot of members and can always give off a fresh vibe, they’re able to be loved for a long time“.
The group is now working towards breaking into the American market. Their participation for the concert in L.A. (SMTOWN) this past September was sold out completely. Not being satisfied just by their success in the Asian market, the group is attempting to conquer the American market as well.
The Chinese press made this last comment, “Super Junior is a well-respected and well-loved superstars. Sometimes they even exist as your friendly next-door neighbors. Everything from the members’ talents to their honest and truthful personalities make up the reason why they’re so dearly loved by the fans“.

Super Junior-M to return with “Too Perfect” on February 25th

After nearly a year and five month hiatus, Super Junior-M has officially begun preparations for their comeback!
Super Junior’s Chinese sub-unit is scheduled to release their second mini-album, “Too Perfect,” on February 25th, and it’ll feature vocals from members Si Won, Donghae, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, Henry, Zhou Mi, Eunhyuk, and Sungmin.
The group will perform on stages all across Asia, whilst simultaneously promoting their unit by branching into acting, MCing, and other non-music areas.
Starting with a recording for Beijing’s CCTV on February 22nd and 23rd, the group will be holding a press conference for their album release on the 24th, followed by its official release on the 25th.

Yunho got his stage name from an online game?

On today’s episode of SBS’ Strong Heart, TVXQ’s Yunho, was a guest along with fellow member Changmin. On the show, Yunho revealed the origin of his stage name.
He stated, “My singer / stage name is U-Know Yunho, and it stands for ‘you know me and I know you’. To tell you the truth, I thought of the name from an online game I used to play. My username for that game was ‘U-Know Yunho’. In the game, I reached the high level of ’supreme’, which was right before the highest level of ‘God’. Right before I became God, I debuted in TVXQ (Rising Gods Of The East).”
It’s quite hilarious that we all expect their names to come from some place more meaningful… well, I guess that game was pretty important to Yunho.

SHINee and f(x) are now the main models for Auction

 

On February 17th, it was revealed that Auction had recently recruited popular idol group SHINee as their main models for the next year.
As a result, SHINee will join f(x) – who signed a  two year contract with Auction last year – and be the face of Auction starting in March.

Super Show 3 (SS3), the 3rd Asia Tour by the KPop group Super Junior, has kicked off tonight, August 14, 2010.

Super Junior has just staged tonight at the Seoul Olympic Park in Korea the first concert on their Super Show 3 (SS3), then the 2nd one happens August 15 at the same venue.

2PM Taecyeon plans to get eye corrective surgery in order to enlist

On the February 7th broadcast of KBS2TV’s “Yeo Yu Man Man,” 2PM’s Taecyeon shared his thoughts on his enlistment situation.
Last December, it was revealed that Taecyeon gave up his American permanent residence visa so that he may be able to fulfill his mandatory civic duty as a Korean male citizen. Taecyeon planned to enlist actively, however, he soon faced some controversy when he received a level 4 on his physical examination, which limited him to public service duties.
On the show, Taecyeon explained,

“After seeing such a severe national event, I began to reflect upon myself. Though it is possible not to have a press conference, it came to be this way… Because my vision is incredibly bad, I asked. They said that if my vision doesn’t get better, I would be unable to be a soldier on active duty. I plan on going after getting my vision corrected.“

Taecyeon was asked whether anyone tried to discourage him from his decision. To this he replied,

“Everyone from my parents to my fellow members and agency tried to stop me. They asked, ‘Why would you take the hard road when you can take the easy way?’ My mind turned out this way.“

“Dream High” reveals behind-the-scenes photos!

On February 7th, KBS’s “Dream High” revealed some behind-the-scenes photos of the main cast on-set.
miss A’s Suzy and T-ara’s Eunjung proved that they weren’t bitter enemies in real life, as seen by their bright smiles and affectionate posing. Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun and Ok Taecyeon re-created their drama love line by standing close to Suzy’s sides. IU and Wooyoung, who’re both receiving much love as the ‘Milky Couple’, can be seen smiling brilliantly with peace signs.
Although the drama focuses on the rivalry between students and classes, the film set proves to be a fun and exciting environment for the young actors.
